I liked Warren Millers article on connecting Minturn to Vail and Beaver Creek.

What some our small minded citizens that are against this idea do not realize is that those same citizens approved 1,700 homes two golf courses and a ski hill already. They sold out for the promised money of 180 million dollars.
What these small minded people do not realize is Minturn already promotes the Minturn Mile. This has skiers skiing down from Vail into Minturn. So why not put in a lift to get people back up?
Some of these small minded people complain about the Elk. Well, where do they think the Elk where going to go with the 1,700 homes two golf courses and the ski hill?
Some of these people that are now complaining about the Elk got paid off by Ginn for
2 million dollars.
Ginn said he would give two million dollars to an Elk foundation. To this day no money has been given.
Here is more of what Tom Sullivan, council member during annexation, had to say and we have none of these after three years.
"The council worked hard to craft an agreement that would benefit the town, and I believe we struck an amazing deal that includes:
• $6 million in funding for a recreation center.
• $2 million for a bike trail between Ginn property and Dowd Junction.
• Construction and use of bike path through the Ginn property.
• Funding for a town library.
• $350,000 for a Minturn scholarship fund.
• $250,000 for completion of the second phase of Little Beach Park.
• $12 million in funding for the town to acquire up to five parcels of Forest Service land.
• Public easements along the Eagle River and Cross Creek on Ginn property.
• Funding for wastewater and water treatment plants, as well as distribution systems.
• Street improvements including sidewalks and bulb outs.
• Funding for parking lots.
• 30 days of skiing for $50.
• Clean up of two Superfund sites"
Here is a quote from Earle Bidez past and current council member. 5/15/2008
"It’s been my experience that the Town Council conducted a very extensive review of the annexation of the property and the development proposal and both addressed the effects and extracted from the developer some sizable community benefits. That agreement provides us the opportunity to take control of our future and to benefit as a community.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the benefits — a recreation/community center, scholarship for Minturn kids, a community partnership ski pass, sidewalks, bike path to Red Cliff,
funding for the completion of Little Beach Park, environmental mitigations, and much more. This is just some of the evidence of the level of detail."
It seems Earle had no clue as to what was going on.
Should I quote the judges order again reversing the annexation, that our council supposedly did extensive review on, according to Earle.
